Get 3/4 of the way done with a novel. I have to get something closer to done.

My goal is to get my MM historical romance/adventure, The Gentleman and the Spy, published. I already have the cover and the book has been well-edited. Still collecting errors from beta readers. Neil Plakcy

Thanks for this, Robin! It’s a great cheat sheet—and feels very accurate to me.

Book Publishing Paths

I haven't seen this shared here yet. Jane Friedman posted her most recent "key paths" for publishing yesterday: https://www.janefriedman.com/key-book-publishing-path/ It's great info with a handy downloadable reference chart that spells out the how's and why's of different ways to get published.

My focus in January: finishing two stories I’ve already started and submitting them to anthologies. One is a Southern Gothic horror story, and one is a sword-and-sorcery tale with an immortal gay Barbarian.

A few nights ago I dreamed the final scene of my mystery/thriller novel-in-progress. I now know who the killer is! The scene I dreamed (which had Katee Sackhoff standing in for the lesbian best friend character) wraps up the main storyline as well as an important subplot. I’m excited because now I have an endpoint as a focus for my writing in the novel. Darrell

Re: December Goals Check-In
I finished a short story to submit to our local Sisters in Crime chapter's anthology and got some other writing done. I didn't do as much writing due to online shopping / wrapping / shipping presents, and cookie baking and so on, but I felt like I accomplished a few things.

Re: December Goals Check-In
Hi, I'm new to the group. Happy to be here! I just sold the film rights to one of my previously published short stories. It will be a short film by an indie filmmaker who has made two feature movies that I loved (The Morningside Monster; Haven's End). I have not been writing much this year, but I recently got my writing mojo back and I'm sending out stories and working on my first novel. Got a rejection yesterday, but it was a personalized rejection, which is always better than a form-letter rejection. Looking forward to exploring this group and getting to know you all better! Hi All, The e-arc for my collection of short stories is available. I know it's a big ask but if anyone is interested in reading and reviewing it for Lambda Literary, I would be eternally grateful. Please let me know. Pub date is April 13 and it's getting very exciting. All the best, gm Gale Massey The Girl From Blind River Florida Book Award 2018
